Biography

Research Summary

Sean Gomendoza is a local Iowa resident majoring in Biomedical Sciences. His project of interest revolves broadly around manipulating alternative splicing patterns of differentially expressed genes in endometrial cancer; in doing so, the project hopes to showcase the clinical relevance alternative splicing events hold regarding oncogenes in cancer, as well as the mechanisms by which splicing events can be manually modulated in the lab setting. Sean has enjoyed his time with the lab and is excited for the future skills he will cultivate alongside his peers and mentors. Outside of the classroom, Sean enjoys singing and exercising at the gym.
