My name is Lauren Buchanan, and I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology with a minor in Psychology on the Pre-Physician Assistant track, with plans to graduate in 2028. I am from Inverness, Illinois. Outside of the lab, I work as a nursing assistant in the children’s hospital, serve as a member and Recruitment Assistant for Zeta Tau Alpha, am the Co-Communications Director for UIBIO, volunteer in the inpatient children’s hospital, and participate as a Dance Marathon dancer.

Throughout my three years in the lab, I have gained valuable experience in cell culture, experimental techniques, data analysis, and interpreting research findings. I have also learned the importance of attention to detail, consistency, collaboration, and problem-solving in a research setting. This experience has given me a much better understanding of the research process and has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I am incredibly grateful for everything Dr. Yang and the lab have taught me and for the opportunities I have had to learn and grow as a researcher
