My name is Ashley Green and I’m a second year from Ankeny, IA. I’m pursuing a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology on the Pre-Medicine track with minors in French and International Relations and a certificate in Public Health. I am the Finance Director for the Women in Healthcare club, a mentor volunteer at the UIHC in the stem cell therapy inpatient unit, a Latham Science Communication Initiative Fellow, and ICRU Fellow. I have started my second year of working in Dr. Yang’s lab.

Throughout my year in the lab, I’ve had a wonderful time conducting PCR and data analysis, transcriptional profiling, chromatin analysis, imaging, and immune assays to define SETDB1 as a central regulator of tumor growth. My experience in the lab has given me growing recognition of the effort cancer researchers put into studying the ways our genes affect us. For my short time in the lab, I have grown in how I collaborate and problem-solve in a team. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Yang and Kiarash Salari for my experiences in the lab and am looking forward to seeing where research takes me!
